Oldfield Agricultural Contractors - Strip Seeding
This offers the chance to rejuvenate tired and worn out pastures without the need to take it out of production and is also used to establish specialist crops such as kale, sunflowers and wild flowers within conservation areas.
We have been operating a Rotary Strip Seeder since its original development by the Scottish Centre of Agricultural Engineering in the early 80`s and have seen considerable success when used as an alternative to conventional reseeding when ploughing and drilling is not possible. Shallow soils and rocky ground create difficulties when rejuvenation is necessary, but with this system we have the opportunity to establish new vigorous and productive growth often without the need to take land out of production. We have found the machine to be particularly beneficial in introducing new seeds and clover into reinstated mining areas and parkland where preservation orders on land are in existence.
The drill works by creating 75 mm strips spaced at 230mm centres, making it suitable not only for the introduction of clover into swards but also for sowing many other crops including grass mixtures, Rye, and brassicas in both uplands and lowlands. More recently the seeder has found favour introducing wild flowers into conservation areas, field boundaries and roadside verges.
Please contact us to find out more about our range of strip seeding operations throughout the whole of the Yorkshire area. |
